New Year, New You!  (January 2010)

It's 2010, and aren't we glad????  Many of us have had some setbacks and challenges during 2009.  I hope that you have been able to learn from them as you launch your life in 2010.   I'm trying to do that by taking stock of what's really important to me.

Over the past year, I've given a lot of thought to what "success" means to me at this time in my life.  I have a more clear picture now.  It's still not easy to stay with it, though, because in some ways it doesn't mesh with the traditional thinking of success.  I sometimes feel pressure to define my success in the same way that our culture typically thinks of as success - money, possessions, etc.  Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE all those things, but they aren't top on MY list for success right now.

If you're defining success for YOU, try to get down to the nuts and bolts of what really brings joy and happiness to your life.  If you list a thing (like a new home, for example), ask yourself Why?  What does a new home bring to your life?  Security, social status, a feeling of worth, etc.  Something there may be the real success you're looking for, and a new home is one of many ways to recognize it.

Food for thought....  If I can help you on your journey to success, let me know.  I'm just a call away.

To your success,

Lin

Hi, again  (Summer 2009)

Well, it's been a year since I put up this web site.  I had planned to update this section monthly, and an entire year has passed.  So, what are the lessons to be learned here?  A few come to mind:

1) Know what you're getting into before you make a commitment.  Since I was just launching my business and making dramatic changes in my life a year go, I didn't really know what to expect.  Like many people, I was over-eager and under-experienced (especially in web site stuff).   Now, I'll try to make a better assessment of what is required and ask for help when I need it.

2) Be sure that your commitments are in alignment with your priorities.  Want to know the real truth?  I don't much like working on web site stuff.  I'd much rather be working with people - coaching, speaking or training.  That's my passion.  Doesn't mean that web site stuff isn't important, but I just need to put it in the priority that's right for me.

3) Expect to do the stuff you don't like.  Hmmm - this one is hard.  The reality is that things are often required of us that we'd rather not do.  I don't know of anyone who likes to tell a friend that (s)he has disappointed him or a supervisor who likes to tell an employee that his job position has been terminated.  Sometimes the tough stuff is just necessary; so, get on with it.

With all that said, the past year has been great in so many ways.  I have been able to coach fantastic people and assist some organizations in values alignment and increased cohesion and productivity.  We all have things to learn in our journey, and I'm on that path with you.

Let me hear from you about your journey.

Hi, welcome to lightninglifecoaching.com!!  (Summer 2008)

It’s a dream come true for me to have this site and an opportunity to work with people to bring more joy and richness to their lives.

I just completed 30 years in a very fulfilling corporate career. Toward the end of that career, I fell in love with coaching. I was fortunate to have the support of my employer in completing all education and certification requirements to become a certified professional coach. My employer also entrusted me to coach its professionals and executives for over 3 years. I have seen and experienced first-hand the positive impact of coaching.

My passion is to ignite (or reignite) joy and aliveness into people’s lives. I focus on coaching professional women and also coach professional men. I work with people through career transitions, downsizing, alignment of work and values, work/life balance, relationships, self-identity and other topics that are as individual as my clients.

The purpose of my coaching is to help you find success for your life, in whatever way you define success. I provide guidance through listening deeply, asking powerful questions, working with you to form action plans and providing you with accountability. Coaching is positive, focusing on identifying your gifts and strengths, and empowering you to have the life you want. It is oriented toward the future. We glance backwards only for an understanding that moves you forward into your desired future.

About once a month, I will use this space to speak to you from my heart, providing thoughts, tips, and insights that I hope will you will find valuable. Please contact me with your suggestions and ideas.

I would love the opportunity to tell you more about coaching and work with you to “Put LIFE in your life!”. Go to the Services page to sign up for a complimentary coaching consultation.

It’s YOUR life; make it Alive!
